Purikor 6-Stage Reverse Osmosis + UV System
Model PKRO100-6UVPM
The Purikor 6-Stage builds on everything the 5-Stage RO does — bacteria, cysts, viruses, and dissolved solids like heavy metals and fluoride — and adds a 6-watt UV lamp as the final stage. The placement is the whole point: it sits after the storage tank and the post-filter, not before them. Reverse osmosis has already removed what was in the water; UV treats the short stretch afterward, where purified water sits in a tank and passes through a coconut-carbon polishing filter on its way to your faucet. That downstream stretch is the one part of a reverse osmosis system filtration can't reach.
Purikor 6-Stage RO + UV at a glance
It's tempting to assume the UV lamp's job is catching viruses the reverse osmosis membrane might miss — but that's not actually the story here. The 5-Stage's own RO membrane already handles bacteria, protozoa, and cysts at over 99% and excludes viruses effectively on its own; viruses aren't the difference between our two RO systems. The real difference is where the UV lamp sits: after the storage tank and the post-filter carbon, not before them. Everything upstream — the membrane itself — is identical on both systems. What the 6-Stage adds is coverage of the stretch downstream of it.
That stretch is worth taking seriously for two reasons. First, the water reaching the tank has already been de-chlorinated by the membrane, so nothing is suppressing regrowth anymore. Second, it then sits in a 12-litre tank for hours before it's used — and storage time is exactly the variable a classic study in the Journal of the American Water Works Association found drives bacterial regrowth, with counts in household storage tanks climbing by several orders of magnitude over just four to seven days of stagnation, regardless of tank material. On the 5-Stage, the post-filter carbon is the last thing the water touches before your faucet, with nothing downstream of it. On the 6-Stage, the UV lamp is.
UV disinfection itself is well studied and, done properly, highly effective — a point-of-use treatment study found comparable systems inactivating over 99.9999% of bacterial pathogens and over 99.99% of viral pathogens passing through. We won't quote a specific log-reduction figure for our own lamp, though, because Purikor doesn't publish a dose rating (mJ/cm²) for the R-PK-UV-6W — so we're telling you what it does and where it sits, not a number we can't verify for this exact part.
One thing worth understanding about UV maintenance specifically: a failing lamp doesn't necessarily go dark. Research on germicidal UV-C output degradation has found it fades gradually as the internal mercury vapor and electrodes age — a lamp can keep producing visible light well after its germicidal output has dropped below an effective dose. That's exactly why this lamp is replaced on a 12-month schedule rather than when it visibly fails: “it's still lit” isn't evidence it's still working, in a way that's truer of this stage than anything else in the system.

Benefits
- The most complete protection we offer — filtration plus UV disinfection in one system
- A final coconut-carbon polishing stage after the membrane, for noticeably better taste
- A 6-watt UV lamp as the final stage — placed after the storage tank and post-filter, so it treats the one stretch of the system that sits downstream of the membrane
- Includes an LCD monitor showing filter life and water quality, so you always know your system's status at a glance
- Includes a pressurized storage tank for normal faucet flow
- Our flagship system, for anyone who wants the strongest available protection without compromise
- Needs two 110V outlets under the sink — one for the booster pump and a second for the UV lamp. This is the only system on our menu that requires two, so it's worth checking before you book. If you only have one, we can talk through the options.
- Uses more water than it produces during operation, the same tradeoff as our 5-Stage RO system
- Because it produces reject water, we also drill a small 7/32" hole into your sink's drain pipe for the drain line — a second, separate hole from the one for the faucet. Our ultrafiltration systems don't need this, since they produce no waste stream. Worth raising with your landlord along with the faucet if you're renting.
- The pressurized tank holds about 12 litres and weighs up to 14 kg full. It doesn't have to live directly under the sink — it can sit up to 10 metres away in an adjacent cabinet, so a tight cabinet isn't necessarily a dealbreaker.
What's included
- Full installation by an English-speaking technician — no translation apps, no confusion explaining a plumbing issue
- A quick walkthrough of your system, including the LCD monitor and what it tells you
- Optional maintenance plan — we'll track your filter, membrane, and UV lamp schedule and reach out when it's due, so you never have to think about it
- Requires drilling a small hole for the dedicated faucet, unless one is already in place — worth checking with your landlord if you're renting.
Maintenance
Sediment and carbon block replaced every 6 months. The granular carbon stage, the post-filter and the UV lamp are annual. The reverse osmosis membrane itself lasts longer — we replace it every 24 months, in line with Purikor's own specification. Our maintenance plan is $225/mo, billed every 6 months at $1,350 alongside your visit — a flat rate averaged across all three replacement windows, so it never changes visit to visit. It's the most involved system on our menu to maintain — the extra UV lamp adds a fourth part to the schedule — and the plan price reflects that.
